About this event
At the novice level in AKC Scent Work, dogs search for cotton swabs scented with birch essential oil and alert their handler of the scent’s location.
In this 4-week Novice level Part 1 of 2 class, we will teach you how to train your dog to recognize and find the birch scent in two of the four element settings in the AKC Scent Work odor divisions-container and interior. We will spend considerable time cementing your dog’s obedience to odor and your ability to recognize when your dog has located the source of the odor. The instructors will provide information on AKC scent work titling programs and provide guidance for entering your first AKC Scent work trial.
When registering for this class you may choose the option to purchase a small starter scent kit which will be given to you in class.
This class will meet 11/30, 12/7, 12/21, 12/28.
