11am: Journey to Competition (Lv.3)
About this event
Mentorship Program
Level 3
For Students that finished Level 2.
In this mentorship program, instructors Linda Garrett & Heather Summers will teach you their methods for training competitive AKC Obedience from the foundations for all levels of Obedience, all the way to being a competitor in the obedience ring. You will work to build engagement and connection, train skills and exercises, proof skills and prepare for the ring. We will also study theory and body conditioning for Obedience and discuss personality and breed traits that might affect your dog in the ring. In this program, balanced training methods will be used.
This program is NOT a regular class, but rather an 8-month weekly mentorship to prepare you for the club’s March 2025 Beginner Novice and Novice Obedience Trials. ONLY serious students may register. You must be willing to be dedicated, take corrections from instructors, put in daily training sessions with your dog 4 to 5 days a week, commit to meeting in class and submit video recordings for review and have discussions through-out the week.
Group class will be held on Saturdays at 11am. Be prepared, sessions usually run 1 and a half hours. Start date for level 3 will begin September 14th, 2024. At the beginning, classes will be held at the Charleston Dog Training Building but as the class progresses we will choose different locations to train as the weather cools.
*Students will be responsible for paying the club every 6-weeks until the end of the program.
** Instructors wanting to use hours must be actively teaching and must be able to show proof of hours accrued.
If you’re serious & ready to commit to being an obedience competitor then register today. This is a rare opportunity to work along side 2 amazing instructors who are dedicated to helping you become the competitor team you can be.
