About this event
Prerequisites: You have prior experience training and trialing, or have taken our Puppy Beginnings class, passed the STAR Puppy test or have passed the CGC test and are serious about competing.
This class is suitable for puppies just starting the skills needed for competition and have all their shots, Young Dogs, or Older Dogs that are experiencing a lack of enthusiasm and/or precision when training or trialing.
In this 6-week class you will review, refine and build upon the skills learned each week. Structure needed for Competition Obedience and Rally will be practiced. This class does not work on the exercises in those levels but the foundation needed to perform the exercises.
Be ready to work your dog during the entire class. Lessons will be adaptable to your dog’s level.
For this class dogs should be under the handler's control and non-aggressive. Handlers must be experienced competitors or intend to enter Obedience or Rally trials.
The objectives of this class level shall be:
To teach the dog and handler to have fun doing obedience
To use play as a release/ motivator
To learn or review basic positions with attention (sit, down, stand)
We will be laying the foundation for attention during:
Heeling
Recall
Stand/Sit for exam
Drop on recall
Retrieve on the flat
Command Discrimination
Directed Retrieve
Stays
and Finishes
ATTENTION: Dates this class will be held are as follows: February 26th, March 5th, 12th & 26th, April 2nd and 16th.

We do not allow female dogs in seasons in class.
We require a minimum of 3 registered students to have this class.
DHLPP or DHPP and Rabies shot records are required. You can email a copy to the instructor or bring them with you first day of class.
Please contact the class instructor by email if you have any questions pertaining to the class itself. Any other questions please direct those to the Training Director and we will do our utmost best to help you. At times the Training Director is also the instructor.
Cancellation Policy:
We require a minimum of a 72 hour notice if you wish to cancel your registration for this class to receive a partial refund. A $10 cancellation fee will be held for processing. Cancellations less than 72 hours notice will not receive a refund but rather a partial credit towards another class. For cancellations please contact us at charlestondogtrainingclub@gmail.com
