THIS CLASS WILL MEET May 17 & May 31. Teaching tricks is a great way to have fun with your dog! You will learn the fundamentals of marker-based training relating to teaching tricks–it will all be positive reinforcement training. We will be using shaping, luring and capturing. You choose which of my tricks you’d like to work on, or be creative and make up your own!
We will be working on tricks in 3 areas: Tricks that use the handler’s body, tricks that use props, and independent tricks.
Dogs love this class! Lots of treats for having fun! Teaching tricks serves many purposes–strengthens the bond between dog and handler, relieves anxiety in stressful situations, and can entertain/show off at dinner parties or therapy visits!
Prerequisites: Dogs need to be at least 6 months old. Bring TONS of small pre-cut treats and a HUNGRY dog, 4/6 foot leash, flat, slip, or Martingale collar. No E collars or flexies.
