WHO WE ARE

REGINA BUCK —Board Member–Competitive Obedience Instructor, Agility Instructor, Rally/Obedience Trial Chairman

My dog training started in Germany with my now 12 year old chocolate lab. We competed in obedience and I also became an instructor at our local dog club. After moving to the US and adding another, yellow lab I also added another sport: agility. Now I compete in both as well as teach both sports.

KIM CATIZONE– Assistant for Companion Dog and Obedience Classes

Hi, my name is Kim Catizone. Dogs have always been a big part of my life. I started training and grooming them at a young age. I was involved with an Obedience club in Massachusetts for many of my teen years and taught basic obedience classes at the local YMCA. I enjoyed being a 4-H dog club leader as both of my daughters were very active in the club. As a leader, I taught Obedience and Showmanship classes to the children in the club. I started competing with my Brittany, Grace, in Scent Work competitions. She earned over 50 Nosework titles in the Performance Sports Dog and United States Canine Scent Sports programs with many group placements including High in Trial awards. Grace also earned her Open Obedience title in Companion Dog Sports Program and her Rally Novice title in UKC with many group placements - including a High in Trial. My miniature Poodle, Bochino, earned his UKC championship title along with many group placements as well as his Rally Novice title in AKC. My new fun adventures will be with my black miniature poodle, Darla.

SUSAN CIPOLLA – Board Member, Rally & Scent Work Instructor, Scent work trial chair

I participate in a variety of dog sports with our Leonbergers including Obedience, Rally, therapy work, carting and conformation. In 2013 I took my first AKC Rally class. I learned the sport from the BEST. She made the class fun for both my dog and I. She taught me what it took to become a good handler. In 2017, the Charleston Dog Training Club was suddenly without a Rally Instructor. Together with three other members who also did Rally with their dogs, we offered to "team" teach a Novice Rally class to fill the void. I have taught both new students and returning students in both a formal class format and a weekly drop in format. Some of our Novice students now hold the prestigious RACH title. In 2019, the club started to offer Scent Work classes. Basil and I loved it and together we earned the overall Advanced title. There was suddenly a need for a new Scent Work instructor at the club and again a few of us who had been competing together wrote the syllabus for a Novice Scent Work class. Since then, I have taught and assisted with numerous classes and pop ups. In 2025 the club held its first AKC Scent Work trial and chose me to be the trial chair.

MARY CORBETT –Assistant for Companion Dog, Agility, and Obedience Classes

I have long been fascinated by animal behavior and have worked with dogs informally since the late 90s. I have titled two of my previous dogs in Rally at the Intermediate and Advanced levels. Currently I compete in Rally, Obedience, FastCAT, and Agility with my Italian Greyhound, Dolce. I joined the Charleston Dog Training Club and Lowcountry Dog Agility Club in 2025 to take our involvement to the next level. Since the fall of 2025 I have been enjoying helping others grow with their dogs as an assistant with the club.

DEBORA DONAHUE– Agility Instructor & Sports Assistant, Companion Dog Classes, ASCA Rally & Obedience Judge, Rally Course Reviewer

My interest in dog sports began when I got my first Aussie in 1996. He was a smart & ornery dog and I needed help so I enrolled in my first puppy class & discovered a whole new world revolving around dogs. Soon after I retired from a 21-year Air Force career and became active with an Obedience Club in Alaska. By 1998 Agility came to Alaska, followed by Rally several years later. I have titled dogs through Open Obedience, Masters Rally and earned one TD in Tracking. My agility experience is mostly with the Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) and North America Dog Agility Council (NADAC) programs in which I have obtained Championships and have titled a dog in AKC Agility at the Masters Level. When I moved to the Low Country in 2022, I joined the local United States Dog Agility Association (USDAA) focus club here in Charleston as well as the Charleston Dog Training Club.

WENDI DUGGAN –member of NADOI, AKC CGC evaluator, Assistant for competitive obedience classes

My name is Wendi Duggan and I have had a love for dogs for as long as I can remember. As a child, I dreamed of owning a German Shepherd and studied every book on this breed at my school and public libraries. When I was 10 years old, my dad brought home a young GSD for me. This was an extreme responsibility that I was ready for, and I was never so happy in my life. In fact, this dog was my launch into the world of dog training but it was also a lesson in unconditional love and sacrifice. I began training basic obedience classes for the Beaufort Kennel Club many years ago. Since then, I have owned and operated my own training classes for approx. 30 years now teaching owners and their dogs through positive choice-based classes. My classes have included puppy /adult manners and basic obedience and rally. Up to this point in my life I had owned two German Shepherds, two rescue shelties and a Doberman. After the loss of my sweet Doberman, I decided to step back for a time of rest and healing. 11 years later and many years of contemplation I now share my home with two Australian Shepherds and have developed an even stronger love for dogs and the world of training. I cannot imagine life without a dog.

PATRICK AND MICHELLE ENDER –Assistants for Companion Dog Classes

Michelle and Patrick have been dog lovers their entire lives, always sharing their homes with dogs from childhood through adulthood. Their passion for training grew significantly when they welcomed their first Standard Poodle two years ago, inspiring them to dive deeper into dog training, canine behavior, and dog sports. Today, they share their home with three dogs: a 12-year-old Shih Tzu-Poodle rescue, Charlie, and two Standard Poodles, Molly (2) and Atlas (1). They enjoy building strong relationships with their dogs through training, enrichment, and learning new skills together. As assistant dog trainers, Michelle and Patrick are excited to continue expanding their knowledge while helping dogs and their owners develop confidence, communication, and lasting partnerships.

ANN FERRELL – Assistant for Companion Dog and Rally classes

My first venture into "dog training" was in the late 70's with my two Dobermans. It was all yanking on choke chains and punishment. I didn't think too much of the training and was pretty much turned off from any formal classes. Jump ahead to 2004 and my poorly bred dachshund, Sophie. We took a class with CDTC, I think it was in an armory in Mt. Pleasant. We were not the star students. Sophie was not into being still, she wanted to climb on things and jump. Enter Lori Duncan with an intro to agility at the old Doolittes site in South Windermere. Sophie LOVED it and I was hooked. Training at SCoot, entering trials and collecting 5-cent ribbons followed. 2011 Dot entered my life and soon I had 2 dogs to double the fun & entry fees. We even went to USDAA nationals one year. Dot and Sophie both competed in Rally too. All good things come to an end and pups get old. Enter Rio. He can do all the things but doesn't always want anyone watching. Somehow he managed to earn Rally Excellent! He has 2 novice legs in Scent Work. Toby can also do all the things but is very concerned with what's going on outside the ring. He competes in Rally & Scent Work. I would love to compete in agility with him but his worry keeps us away. We compete in AKC League agility. I also volunteer at Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, working with dogs that don't have much of a chance of getting adopted. In dealing with my pups, I've taken multiple Fenzi classes plus assorted other online offerings. Most recently I completed Kim Brophy's LEGS Applied Ethology Course. I've discovered you have to learn to work with the dog in front of you, not the one you imagined or wished for. Learning never stops.

KAREN GREIM– Assistant for Companion Dog and Rally Classes

I have been showing dogs for many years in conformation and various dog sports. Trained and titled several German Shepherds, two to Sch II and one to Sch III, as a member of the Greater Philadelphia Schutzhund Club under training Director Jim Hill. Trained in NACSW (National Association Canine Scent Work) scent work with the Dog Training Center of Chester County through level 2 nose work with my Scottish Terriers. Very proud of my homebred Scottish Terrier CH Thornbury’s Barrel Finish, owner handled under Bred-By-Exhibitor.

JANE HIRSCH– Rally FrEe–Freestyle Instructor–Tricks Instructor–Platform & Clicker Skills Instructor, Alliance of Therapy Dogs Evaluator

Jane first learned about clickers in a 1999 puppy class with her first Aussie, Rafter. Using it mostly for teaching tricks, it wasn't until years and two dogs later that she learned the science behind marker-based learning and converted from being a trainer who uses a clicker to a clicker trainer. She has attended five Clicker Expos which feature the best clicker trainers and behaviorists from all over the world. She also trains with two of the best clicker trainers in the US, Julie Flanery and Michele Pouliot. Jane loves canine freestyle, and her Aussies have earned a number of titles. She’s currently clicker training her fifth Aussie, Keeper, who currently has 2 legs toward his Beginner title. Every new behavior is taught with a clicker and her dogs love to try to figure out what behavior will earn that click! No matter what dog sport, whether good manners, tricks, obedience, freestyle or complex behaviors, the clicker is an amazing tool. An added benefit is that clicker savvy dogs are happy workers and enjoy training!

CHRISTINA JAGORA– Assistant for Obedience Classes

I became hooked on dog sports five years ago when I realized my current dog was going to be a bit of a challenge. Far smarter and more in need of a job than any dog I’d ever owned, Baldur introduced me to a whole new world. We have shown in rally and scent work, and I am also working on obedience with my younger dog. While scent work may always be my favorite, obedience is quickly becoming a compelling study of nuance and style.

JILL LUNDGRIN– AKC CGC Evaluator, Companion Dog Instructor

Dogs have been my hobby since 1962 when I became involved in the local AKC kennel club as a junior member. I showed my AKC pug in conformation and obedience. She became a champion and later I received the Pug Breeder of Merit. I was honored to be one of six to receive the National 4-H Dog Care and Training Award. I have appeared on TV to promote dog training during the APDT Train Your Dog Month. I’ve also had an article on bite inhibition published. I belong to the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, Pet Professional Guild and Doggone Safe. I have taken numerous courses (online and in person ) with Karen Pryor Clicker Training, Julie Flanery, Michael Shikashio and others. As a member of the CDTC I have served on the Board as president and secretary.

VIRGINIA MCALISTER –Assistant for Companion Dog Classes

I started participating in AKC events in 2015. I decided I would like to show my dog Tradd in conformation. We completed his Championship title in 2016. I have participated in FastCAT, Scent work, Rally, and Barn hunt. I am currently working on my excellent title in scent work with my second Westie, Captain. I have earned a FCAT, CAX, Rally Novice, and advanced title in scent work. I have also completed an open title in Barn hunt with my first Westie, and I am currently working on an open barn hunt title with Captain. This past spring we started agility classes and hope to start participating in events in 2027. I am always looking for new opportunities to spend time with my Westies.

TRACY MCGRIFF – AKC CGC Evaluator- Assistant for Companion Dog Classes- Instructor for Therapy Dog Prep Class

My passion for dogs comes from years of hands-on experience helping animals build confidence, trust, and stability. For the past five years, I have volunteered with the Havanese Angel League Organization (HALO), fostering and rehabilitating dogs rescued from puppy mills and other difficult situations. Through that work, I learned the value of patience, consistency, and understanding that every dog is unique. In addition to working with rescue dogs, I am actively involved in the therapy dog community and strongly believe in the powerful connection between people and animals. My training approach centers on clear communication, trust, and strengthening the human-animal bond while creating positive, real-world results for both dogs and their families.

JANET MCSWAIN– Recording Secretary–AKC CGC Evaluator–Companion Dog Instructor–Rally Instructor.

I have had dogs literally all my life, well over 30 at last count. I trained for basics. My dogs knew how to behave in public and were very good dogs. My focus changed in 2003, when I got my first Belgian Sheepdog (BSD). Angel taught me I needed to up my game to be worthy of being her handler! She went on to be an agility champion, therapy dog and got a Novice title in Rally (she thought Rally was boring). I became more dedicated when I got my second competition BSD in 2023, Fate. Fate wants to do it all, but again, I had to up my game. We are competing in Obedience, Rally and of course, agility. My focus is helping people develop the connection with their dog, to have the relationship they want and to be able to do the things they and the dog find fun and rewarding. I am certified in Canine Good Citizen (and Star Puppy), two of the most vital areas of training to make sure our dogs are safe and happy. Our dogs give us their all. We owe it to them to return the favor.

MARTHA MURRAY– Assistant for Companion Dog Classes and Rally-Canine Companions trainer

As a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions ( Canine.org), I am involved with raising and training puppies to be future service dogs. Canine Companions provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities, and as a puppy raiser, I train the puppy in basic obedience and socialization skills to prepare them to be a service dog. In addition to helping with classes at the Charleston Dog Training Club, I lead classes for Canine Companions puppy raisers in the Charleston area.

DAN MYERS– Companion Dog Instructor-AKC CGC Evaluator

Dan Myers lives in Hanahan, SC and has been training his own dogs since 1992. Over the years he has worked with a variety of breeds including Beagles, Shar-Pei, Rottweilers, Shiba Inu, and Labrador Retrievers, all trained to the level of Canine Good Citizen “street work” obedience. Dan currently competes with his French Bulldog, Louie, in obedience, rally, FastCAT, and agility. Louie has earned multiple titles including BN, RI, FDC, CAA, FCAT, CGCA, CGCU, TKA, and FITG, and the team has also earned qualifying runs in USDAA agility. They have also participated in therapy dog work through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Dan joined the Charleston Dog Training Club in 2023 and assists with Steps to CGC and CGC classes. He also volunteers at club trials whenever possible. His training philosophy focuses on building a strong relationship between dog and handler through positive reinforcement. Louie is a stubborn and funny Frenchie who embraces life at his own pace and willingness—occasionally adding a little chaos and zoomies when the moment calls for it.

SUSAN NORRIS-Corresponding Secretary-AKC CGC Evaluator-Obedience Foundations & Companion Instructor-Fetch and Temperament judge

I have had dogs most of my life and have been training dogs since about 2007. I currently have three Labradors(Jake, Chester, and Jubal) and am involved in Obedience, Conformation, and Pet Therapy. I have attended workshops with Laura Romanik, , Julie Flanery, Michele Pouliot, Matthew Twitty, Rebecca Thrift, and Tracy Riley, and Top Dog workshops with Linda Brennan and Betsy Scappichio. I have taken agility classes with Becca Thrift and John Reid at SCoot Dog Agility. I have taken my Chocolate Lab to a hunt workshop and plan to get a hunt title on him. He is currently working toward his CDX. I enjoy teaching the S.T.A.R. Puppy class and love the way puppies learn. Jeb was my Novice A dog; he earned his CD, RA, and Therapy Dog titles. Hampton earned his CD and RI. Jake has earned his Rally Intermediate, Beginner Novice, and Scent Interior Novice, and Temperament titles and has one leg toward his CD. Chester has earned his CD, Rally Intermediate title, his FIT dog Bronze title, and his Fetch Novice title, and his UKC Beginner Novice title. My youngest dog is Jubal, and he is currently being shown in conformation and is working toward obedience titles. He has earned a UKC Pre-Novice title.

HEATHER SUMMERS–Competitive Obedience, Rally and Agility Instructor -Trial Secretary for Rally/Obedience and Scent work trials

Heather Summers has dedicated more than 25 years to the professional dog industry, building a career centered on excellence and education. She began grooming professionally in 1999 and founded her award-winning mobile grooming business in 2008, where her commitment to quality and client care quickly earned statewide and national recognition. She is a multi first-place award-winning pet stylist, named Best All Round Groomer in the country in 2022, and has also authored educational articles for Lowcountry Dog Magazine. Heather joined the CDTC in 2019, served on its board and as Training Director and Trial Secretary since 2021. She is also the founder and president of one of the area's newest UKC clubs.

As an active competitor and instructor, Heather competes across AKC, UKC and USDAA with multiple dogs in obedience, rally, agility, conformation, fastcat, precision coursing and scent work with her results demonstrating a consistent ability to build confident, versatile canine athletes. Her dogs have earned grand championships, multiple high in trial awards, best in show honors, perfect scores and top placements

Her first competition poodle, Amavi, now 8 years old has earned an impressive collection of titles in obedience, rally, agility, and scent work, highlighted by High in Trial awards in both AKC Obedience and AKC Scent Work and Master Agility titles. Her bred-by toy poodle, Topaz, earned his UKC Grand Championship and a Best in Show victory in 2023 while also earning numerous group 1st placements in conformation and achieving, precision coursing and fastcat titles. Her youngest competition partner, Slice, a Border Collie, has already made an exceptional impact of 15 titles at just 20 months, earning AKC and UKC titles in Obedience, Rally and Scent Work, multiple High in Trial awards, multiple first-place finishes, and a couple perfect scores, and recognition as a UKC Top 50 Obedience All Star for 2026.

Whether grooming, teaching, or competing, Heather's passion is helping handlers strengthen their relationships with their dogs through clear communication and thoughtful training for the dog in front of her.

DEB REED–Assistant for Companion Dog Classes

I am a retired Middle School Science teacher. I have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We are expecting our first Great Grandson in Oct. 2026. My husband Richard, also a club member, and I have been married for 53 years. We are both dog lovers. I assist Julia Williamsen with S.T.A.R. puppy classes. Previous to that, I assisted Steve Monyko with CGC, CGC Urban and Community Canine. I have assisted in Scent work and Novice Rally. I am an AKC Breeder of Merit for WestHighland White Terriers. We have bred Champions and Grand Champions and have some companion dog titles as well.

DAVID REVORD–AKC CGC Evaluator–Companion Dog Instructor-Therapy Dog Prep Instructor-Tricks evaluator

I enjoy working with my wife, Sue Revord, teaching people different ways to handle their dogs to help them enjoy them. One of my favorite activities is doing canine therapy work and giving suggestions to people in our therapy dog prep classes. Sue and I have always had cocker spaniels and finally, after all these years, one likes me best, and I have started my competitive obedience path with her. I have enjoyed getting involved with FastCAT and am excited that our youngest dogs are showing great success at this sport, as well as scent work.

SUE REVORD–Training Director–AKC Evaluator–Fit Dog Level 3 Instructor–Fetch Judge–Alliance of Therapy Dogs Tester/Observer–Therapy Dog Prep Instructor–Companion Dog Instructor– Scent Work Instructor– FastCAT trial chair

I have owned American Cocker Spaniels forever. I’ve been training dogs my entire life, but got more serious after I retired from 38 years of teaching. My husband, David, and I enjoy working together teaching training classes and training our own dogs. One of my favorite things to do is to create activities that help socialize dogs. I enjoy seeing the pleasure on the handler's faces when they train and become a team with their dog. We currently have six American Cocker Spaniels. Five are registered therapy dogs. We enjoy doing canine therapy at MUSC, Roper, and numerous other facilities. While my dogs have titles/legs in agility, rally, obedience, scent work, therapy and FastCAT, they are all works in progress.

KATHERINE SALMONS–Assistant for Rally FrEe and Trick classes, Alliance of Therapy Dogs tester/observer

I grew up with Labradors that were family pets and which were used in hunting. Because I travelled in my job(s), I wasn’t able to own a dog until 1998, when I moved home to Charleston and joined a family business. I adopted a Chow mix puppy that year and immediately inherited my mother’s Labrador. I did not learn about the world of dog performance sports until 2008. Nevertheless, the Chow mix got her CGC and Pet Therapy Certification and we visited nursing facilities for three years as a Pet Therapy Team.

Most of my interest in training dogs and in dog behavior came about as a result of the first Sheltie (“Snap”) that I owned. He was high strung, high drive, and extremely motion-sensitive. I immersed myself in in-person and online classes and consultations in basic obedience, Control Unleashed / BAT training, and Clicker Training. Along the way in my journey with Snap, we managed to get his Championship in Rally-Free Elements, his “beginner” Musical Freestyle and In-Sync (heel work to music) titles, and BN, RN, TKI, and THD titles.

I have served as a Tester / Observer for Alliance of Therapy dogs since 2013. I currently have 3 Shelties, two of which are active in Pet Therapy. The oldest has her Novice and Encore Novice RallyFree Elements titles and TKI title; and all three are dabbling in Scent work.

ANNE SCHMID–Assistant for Companion Dog Classes

MARION SCHUTT-Competitive Obedience Instructor

I have been involved in dog training since I got my first Aussie, Boris, in 1990. Since then, I have had eleven Aussies who have had varying degrees of success in the show world. I have competed in conformation, obedience, rally, flyball, and agility. I am currently competing in obedience at the Open and Utility levels and in agility. Shows, online classes and seminars all contribute to my ongoing education as a trainer. My strength as a trainer is identifying and solving obedience training problems experienced by other handlers and their dogs. Breaking exercises down into tiny, manageable pieces and making it all a game for the dog creates an engaged, well-trained dog. I am currently a purely positive trainer. Come on out and give our favorite hobby a try!

RICKI SILVERIA– President–AKC CGC Evaluator–Conformation Instructor–AKC Rally Instructor–Companion Dog Instructor-Licensed judge for Siberians

Ricki Silveria has been in competitive dog sports for 30 years. After retiring in 2009, she made training and showing dogs a high priority. Ricki has finished over a dozen Conformation Champions, including six from the Bred-By class. She has added Rally and Obedience titles to all her dogs as well. Several of her dogs are Registered Therapy Dogs through ATD, Inc. Ricki belongs to several breed clubs in both SC and NC, as well as the Carolina Working Group Association where she is the current show chair. She has been a member of the Siberian Husky Club of America for nearly 20 years and is their Delegate to the AKC. Ricki is an AKC Breeder of Merit and lives in Mt. Pleasant with her 6 Siberian Huskies.

MADISON STELLJES– ASSISTANT FOR COMPANION DOG CLASSES

Growing up in a family that always had at least 7 dogs at a time, it was kinda inevitable to end up doing stuff with dogs. My first real sport dog is IKEA, whom I found in a dumpster during the COVID-19 lockdown. Together, we have tried barnhunt, scent work, CABT & FASTcat, AKC/UKC Rally, and AKC/UKC obedience. Now I have IKEA, Wally, and two retired laboratory beagles, Winnifred and Talulah Mae. We all are just having fun together and love learning new things with new friends.

LESLIE SWANSON – Assistant for Companion Dog Classes

My name is Leslie Swanson. I was active in dog obedience throughout my time with 4H. I have recently gotten back into dog obedience with my Chocolate Lab, Bella. I’ve been with the club for the past 3 years learning obedience and trying my hand at rally and scent work. We also joined the Low Country Agility Club learning how to do agility!!! We’ve participated in several trials and have earned our beginner novice title and are working towards our novice title! !

MELISSA WEATHERFORD–AKC CGC Evaluator, Companion Dog Instructor

Melissa Weatherford has built a lifelong commitment to dogs, beginning in the 1980s working with her own dogs and becoming actively involved with rescue dogs, a dedication she continues through the present day. Over the years, she has gained extensive hands-on experience with dogs of all breeds, temperaments, and training needs, shaping a practical and balanced approach to training.

From 1993 to 2005, Melissa was an occasional breeder and owner-handler of American and Canadian AKC Alaskan Malamutes, earning recognition with Multiple Group Winners, Specialty Winners, and Top Ten Alaskan Malamutes. This experience provided a strong foundation in structure, temperament, and the consistency required for success in the show ring and beyond.

Her background also includes accomplishments in Competitive Obedience, Rally, Scent Work, Trick Dog, and Therapy Dog work, giving her a well-rounded perspective across multiple dog sports and disciplines.

Melissa is passionate about helping dogs and their handlers build clear communication, trust, and reliability in real-world situations. She believes training should be practical, consistent, and focused on developing a strong working relationship between dog and owner.

LOUISE SELLERS–Assistant for Companion Dog classes, AKC CGC evaluator, Fetch judge

Louise Sellers has taught Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and assists in both STAR Puppy and Rally Obedience at the Charleston Dog Training Club. She is known for her calm, supportive approach and her commitment to positive, clicker‑style training that helps handlers build clear communication and confidence with their dogs. Whether preparing teams for CGC success, supporting foundational puppy skills, or assisting in the fast‑paced fun of Rally, Louise focuses on making training positive, approachable, and rewarding for every dog‑and‑handler team. Based in Summerville, SC, she enjoys working with her own American Foxhounds in Obedience, Rally, and scent work. She is now expanding her involvement into the world of Conformation and is continually advancing her knowledge.

JULIA WILLIAMSEN–Board Member–AKC CGC Evaluator–Companion Dog Instructor

Michelle Woodbury - CCI Puppy Raiser

Michelle Woodbury is a neurorehabilitation occupational therapist researcher and educator at MUSC. Throughout her clinical career, she referred individuals living with stroke, spinal cord injury, or brain injury to Canine Companions, a nonprofit nationwide organization that provides highly trained Service Dogs to people with disabilities at no cost to the recipient (canine.org). Inspired by the life-changing impact of these partnerships, Michelle became a volunteer puppy raiser with Canine Companions in 2013. Since then, she has helped raise 8 Canine Companions puppies; with 5 of these successfully completing the organization's rigorous professional training program and going on to become Service Dogs. Michelle currently co-raises puppy #9 with Martha Murray and helps lead Charleston-area Canine Companions training classes for local puppy raisers.
