4pm: Socialization & Enrichment for dogs greater than 30lbs

Come have a dog playdate with all your friends at the club.  Your dog must be either a current student of our AKC STAR Puppy class or have completed and passed the program.
A release of liability is required to be signed at the facility.

Keep your dog socialized.  Unfortunately, after the intensive period of early socialization (Puppy Class) period many owners slack off. They see that their hard work has paid off and that their puppy is friendly and sociable in every situation they find themselves in. What they don't realize is that dogs naturally become more shy and standoffish as they get older. Adolescent and adult dogs develop fears and phobias to stimuli that they aren't continually exposed to. Keeping your dog well-socialized to other dogs is not so easy, and often this area of their socialization deteriorates the most rapidly.

Socialization & Enrichment is:
* An ongoing process, not a single object or event
* Only enriching if the animal chooses to interact with it or is affected positively by it
*Improving the quality of life for the dogs
*Helping the dog present themselves better when exposed to new situations
*Incorporates a combination of sensory, physical, environmental, cognitive, and social activities.
*Variety is the key to successful enrichment & socialization in order to keep things interesting.  Modest but pleasant changes in the dog's environment help prevent dogs from becoming at-risk behaviorally.

Facility will be set up with a combination of sensory, physical, environmental, cognitive and social
activities.
